FAQ
Most Frequently Asked Questions About Climbing Kilimanjaro
How long does it take to climb Mount Kilimanjaro?
Most routes take between 6 to 9 days, depending on the route and acclimatization. We recommend at least 8 days for the best chance of summit success.
Do I need to be very fit to climb Kilimanjaro?
You don’t need to be an athlete, but good physical conditioning helps. Anyone with moderate fitness and mental determination can make it to the summit with proper acclimatization.
What is the best time to climb Kilimanjaro?
The dry seasons (January–March and June–October) are the most popular and safest times to climb due to better weather and clearer skies.
Which is the best route to climb?
Each route offers different scenery, difficulty, and duration. The Northern Circuit is best for acclimatization and low traffic. The Machame Route is scenic and popular. We’ll help you choose the right one.
Is altitude sickness a real concern?
Yes. That’s why we use slow ascent routes, trained guides, and monitor your health daily. Our team is certified in first aid and carries oxygen and pulse oximeters.
Do I need a guide to climb Kilimanjaro?
Yes. Kilimanjaro National Park regulations require all climbers to be accompanied by a licensed guide. We provide experienced, English-speaking guides.
What gear do I need?
We’ll send you a detailed packing list. You’ll need warm layers, hiking boots, a sleeping bag, and a duffel bag. Rentals are also available in Moshi.
What does the cost include?
All our treks include park fees, meals, guides, porters, tents, and airport transfers. Flights, tips, and personal gear are not included.
